Interstate movement of citrus and other rutaceous plants for planting to non-quarantine areas (2010-07-06)
Newly Registered Pesticides for Use on Citrus Nursery Stock in 2009
Citrus Contacts:
I wanted to make you aware of three new pesticide registrations for citrus that I have noted on my web page: www.ucanr.org/sites/KACCitrusEntomology/Pesticide_Information/
Platinum: a systemic neonicotinoid similar to Admire in activity against leafminer and aphids. Quicker in uptake compared to Admire but less length of residual control.
Mustang: a pyrethroid that would have good activity against katydids, worms, sharpshooter and grasshoppers.
Altacor: a new chemistry (group 28) that is labeled for citrus leafminer and peelminer. It is a good rotational choice for combating citrus leafminer in nurseries and new citrus plantings. I have not conducted large scale field trials against citrus peelminer, however in small studies Altacor had efficacy against both eggs and larvae of peelminer.
I also wanted to make you aware of two Citrus Research Board grower seminars in Santa Paula (July 9) and Exeter (Aug 26) that will focus primarily on the Asian citrus psyllid and huanglongbing situation:
